The Family!

The family.

Having fun after a long day.

Hi! Welcome to the Tiny Adventure blog. I am very new at this, so be patient with me. Grammar is one of my many challenges. Let me tell you about my family. My husbands name is David. My son is David jr and I am Victoria.  We have been married for six years. We have had such a whirlwind adventure of a marriage.

How it began!

Due to my husbands job as a Soldier in the ARMY, we move all the time. In the last 6 years we have moved soooooo many times. Each time has brought us to great places, and really scary places. I hate the process of finding a house to rent. This brought us to this idea. My husband is being sent to Fort Richardson Alaska. I am excited. I've wanted to move to Alaska for years. I am all about living deep in the woods. When the process began to look for homes, I freaked out. No way was I going to pay $1,200 for an apartment. NO WAY! My first though was, let's build a collapsible home. Then the whole process seemed overwhelming to me. So I decided let’s do an RV. My husband was excited with the idea. We currently live on a great private large lot. I rather live in an RV then in an apartment.  This would allow us to live outside the city. So I began the search for an RV.  What an over whelming process. I was watching the TV show, Extreme RVs one day. When I came across this great idea. A mobile cabin! AWESOME! It was a special on Tumbleweed tiny house. What a great idea!

The benefits:

·         Mortgage free.

·         Easy to maintain.

·         If I don’t like the neighbors I can move.

·         Mobile.

·         MOBILE.

·         No gross apartments!

·         I can live in the woods.

·         Easy to clean.

·         Fewer chores.

·         CUTE!

·         Cozy.

·         I can save so much money!

·         More free time.

·         I can live off the grid if I choose.

·         When we move, we always have are home.

·         Did I mention it’s cute!

·         Less things stuff to organize!

My husbands new duty station.

Alaska! I am so excited.

No we are not crazy. Yes we are building a portable house, and then moving it to a lot in Alaska. Then running it on wind mill. That does sound a little crazy. Who cares! Life is short. Who made the rules that we have to live like everyone else. Do what works for you. So yes moving to lot in the woods in a Tiny house is what works for us. Tiny Adventure!

  3. Congrats! Wish you the best of luck. My brother is building a tiny house this summer. It will be his home, and he plans to take full advantage of the MOBILE aspect. Are you building from a Tumbleweed plan?

  4. Thank you for the wonderful comments! @Josh Brown. My husband made the plans himself. Without a kit, from scratch! He layed his plans out on scraps of wood! what a crazy guy!

  7. I love the idea of living in a tiny house, off grid anywhere! My husband is a Marine, coming up on retirement in the next 18 months, and lately we've been looking at buying 10-20 acre parcels of property in several different places including Alaska. I'd love to buy at least 5 places spaced out across the country with off grid cabins set up on each one. Looking forward to reading more of your blog. ~ Sallie

  8. I am an Army wife in Alaska! Fort Rich!! We should meet upnd talk about houses lol! We just got to Ft Rich in January of this year (2013) I have moved around a lot as a child and I am both tired of moving & still wanting to see the world. This makes my 23rd home. My husband gets out here in 2.5 years & then I think we might stay here permanently but my life goal is to have my own homestead & still travel the world. I want a small house to save us money but a place I can finally call my own. We currently live in Eagle River in a rental townhouse. I love this place, hate my house. Are you already up here or still waiting for orders? Send me an email at mfjmail@yahoo.com my name is Angela :) how long was your husband in Afghanistan? My husband's last was also Afghanistan but for about 3 months. Thank God it was a short one!!!
